This page describes the current v1 behavior of LinkUpOrDown. Review and update it to reflect your actual business, legal entity, analytics and advertising providers before public launch.

Information we process

When you run a check, we process the website address you submit, the result of the request, the HTTP status (if available), response time and the time of the check. These details are stored to show recent activity and maintain the service.

Rate limiting and security

We use a one-way hash derived from the request IP address and browser user-agent to enforce a short-term request limit. The raw IP address is not stored in the rate-limit table by this feature. Hosting providers may separately retain server logs.

Cookies

The current application uses a session cookie to protect the check form against cross-site request forgery. It does not currently include advertising or analytics cookies by default. If you add analytics, advertising, login or other third-party services, update this policy and obtain consent where required.

Third-party websites

When you request a check, our server sends an HTTP request to the website address you provided. The third-party website may receive technical information about that request, such as our server IP address and user-agent.

Retention and contact

Check history is retained in the database until it is deleted by the site operator. Contact the site operator through the contact page for privacy questions or requests. Replace this paragraph with your verified contact details and retention policy before launch.
